Freddie Blackskin “Music For The People” Digital Review. (Update With Track)
This review is an opinion of the author and in no way is the expressed consent of 401hiphop.com, I warned you now. click the read more link to find out what I mean.
The best part about this album is the cover. I’m sorry if that is too harsh to say about the album right off the bat but it needed to be said.
The album has over 15 tracks of the same rehashed song over and over again, what is the the theme you ask? Getting paper and being posted up on the block. Now let me say that this album has some pretty decent beats and if I wasnt trying to figure out what Freddie was trying to express throughout the album I probably wouldve enjoyed the album. That being said I got 9 tracks into it and I couldnt stand the album anymore. I had to stop listening to save myself some sanity.
Another thing about this album is the features are better then the artist they are supposed to be enhancing for the sake of the album. The traks content on each tend to contradict themselves over the length of the album I mean one song is about getting out of the ghetto and helping the kids but then within the SAME SONG he is talking about pushing drugs!?!? what the Eff is going on here?
To put it plainly the album has some pretty dope beats but the mixing is horrible on some tracks and the content is subpar at best.
I have to say that the album is not for me. But I did listen and well these words are the truth according to me.
Vibes-6 ; Beats-7 ; Content-2 ; Skills-4
care to judge for yourself?

Man at least u could’ve posted one of the songs so RI listeners can judge 4 themselves… AND I don’t know how much this matters BUT track 6 “Ride Til I Die” is #1 on the Radio as far as American hip hop goes in ALL of Brazil 4 6 weeks strong now… I’ll speak on this more later but in no way am I upset about ur review HW. If u listened to Witness the Birth of Freddie Black which was also released last yr you might think Freddie Black aka Pride is 2 different people….

I updated it with 2 tracks for the people to hear. Like I said I have no hate towards the guy considering I don’t know him this was just my honesty/opinion others might think otherwise and thats exactly why I decided to upload 2 tracks after you gave the permission.

to get a straight underground listeners opinion on a street mainstream type album is obvously going to have problems… thats like aesop rock reviewing a d block album and viceversa.. of course they wouldnt relate to anything bieng said…hmmmm

That being said I got 9 tracks into it and I couldnt stand the album anymore. I had to stop listening to save myself some sanity.
Dude didn’t even listen to the whole album…..
I have to say that the album is not for me. But I did listen and well these words are the truth according to me.
Who the FUK is contradicting them self …..

“I have to say that the album is not for me. But I did listen and well these words are the truth according to me.”
see if you read that last line I clearly state that this album is not meant for me.
I reviewed the album because 1. They asked me too.
and 2. because I have no problems reviewing things. but the music I like is not what this album is about. Im not into pushing songs about selling drugs the streets are fucked up enough. When your trying to tell kids hey make it out the ghetto and not preaching possibly the right now, like lets say goto school and get a degree or make something out of yourself that is not dealing. Im just not feeling it.
I have lived in the hood, been beat down, and the such. Just because its your environment doesn’t mean you cant change your outcome in a positive way.
I didnt listen to the whole album because I really wasnt feeling it. If after 9 songs in a row, you cant make me like 1 or 2, then the rest are going to fall in line with the first 9. thats why its a tracklisting, people need to arrange their cds to fit the best up, becuase in this world you get 1 shot maybe 2 at impressing someone, after 4 songs I wanted to stop listening but I didnt.
like I said I dont know freddie black and this is not an attack on him or his crew.
this is just an opinion.

Check ur email H Dub. Sent u a link to Witness The Birth of Freddie Blackskin. U were the 1st we sent this album out 4 review to. In NO WAY, shape, form or fasion is ur review taken personally. This particular album did EXACTLY what we wanted it to do, which was cross over to a larger fanbase. I do however think ur review was very lacadasical in the sense that u didn’t bother to listen to the whole album…. 1st things 1st, Freddie Black is a lyricist! NO ONE can EVER take that away from him. GhosTown as a label AND group has been around OFFICIALLY since 2001! We’ve successfully released 5 albums AND 10 mixtapes combined in that timespan! I’ll even agree, “Music For The People” wasn’t agreeable with everyone who has a say at our label BUT that wasn’t the point of the release. We put it out to let headz kno WE could be relevant on some commercial hip hop ish without changing the content. Honestly, to me, the only thing that changed was the style of beats mostly, which was produced by my man Dru. He had a vision as a budding producer and engineer and we ran with it. I’m happy with the accolades we’ve received from this album alone and it allowed for ALOT of growth within our tight nit group! To ne one that listened to the album in full or just these 2 tracks, JUST KNOW, we got a HELL OF ALOT MORE 4 your eardrums!!! HIP HOP ALL DAY! RI WE LUV U MAFUCKAZ!!!

” WE could be relevant on some commercial hip hop ish without changing the content”
Wtf u even talkin bout homie?
but uh, congratulations i guess… this music sounds as bad as the people making money on the radio
August 28th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I have the music for the people disc and as far as im concerned its classic freddie negro material… i like it.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
My words are pretty much self explainatory…. So, pretty much, ne 1 that listened to them joints posted or has listened to this lp doesn’t get it??? I’m not gonna sit here and listen to mafuckaz try to discredit all the hard work put into putting out a quality product! #1 and #2 minus this album, Freddie would/can rap circles around pretty much ne one who got something to say about whatever. It’s not about that tho, the album title says it all. It’s called “Music For the People”. It’s NOT for ALL people but it is music FOR people that wanna hear what Freddie Blackskin has to say, in ALL it’s glory, CONTRADICTIONS, praise, and HATE! Jay Z said it best, “Do you dudes listen to music or do you just skim through it…” Do me a favor and listen to “Head Above Water” AGAIN!
