Sneaky Pete vs Marshall Law

[audio:http://audio.basementflavor.com/sneaky_pete_vs_marhall_law/401hiphop/emcee_battle.mp3]

For everyone who has been waiting to re-live the battle between Sneaky Pete and Marshall Law, I got some good news and some bad news. Here is the battle for you to enjoy. But the bad news is thats its only the audio. The lighting in The Living Room is not the best. So the footage is blurry at best. The audio is clean so I figured fuck it. The only thing you miss is the Carrot Top prop work of Sneaky Pete as he puts on a pair of white sun glasses when he says “I’ll Be Kanye West”. So Listen. Enjoy and sound off on who you thought was the winner. What was your favorite punch lines?

  1. I Guess I Aint A True Emcee….

  2. my cause is that murder music and calling people faggots
as an insult is juvenile and played out.
I have many gay friends infact and
…I have sunkin to your level too many times already
so THIS is my last word on the subject

my “war” is to enlighten and educate as I entertain
so fuck a battle rap and fuck what u THINK
    Hip Hop should be.

  3. ur right about one thing though…u’ve never seen
    an emcee like me.

  4. June 1, 2008 at 1:47 pm
    The Craft says:

Yo man, we’ll leave it at that. But for the record, I also have gay friends (and family members). I don’t know where that came from. Who ever used any slurs on gay people? Never that from me. I got love for anyone that’s real.

  5. “TRUE MCs battle freestyle. TRUE MCs battle on a beat.”

    A) oh riiiiiight….and Marshall didn’t pre write any punchlines?!!!

    B) evidently dude never heard of SMACK DVD

  6. Can we get back to MUSIC NOW?!!

Here’s the kind of comments people leave me when
    they come to http://www.sneakypeteworld.com

“U Don’t Know” 10 out of 10. Exceptional, excellent song, great lyrics, solid beat, strong voice, very distinctive, apart from the rest, wisely marching down its own road in the evolution of rap music, this is revolutionary. I want to know so much more about you. You dont see what I see, you dont know what I do, you dont fear what I fear, cuz you dont know what ive been through. are you white?

That’s what the fuk i’m talking about

  7. let me lead everyone in a resounding ‘WHO GIVES A FUCK?!’

you have 16000 friends on myspace and you got 14 plays today

  10. re: Jots
LMAO. This from a dude who puts my quote at the top of his myspace
to make it seem like i endorse the kid

    re: Marshall
I already gave you props for your battle skillz so…what’s the beef?

I personally am not looking to make a name for myself in that arena
but i wanted to show you that I wasnt ducking you
    or sniping from the internet.

What i said to you on that stage are the exact same things i’ve been saying on here. Your lyrics are irresponsible, outdated and irrelevant. That is my opinion. Get over it or get better.

  11. Are yall gonna threaten bodily harm to every critic
    who reviews your music

    yah, real pro guy

  12. June 1, 2008 at 5:12 pm
    The Craft says:

The Drama Queen strikes again!!! Very “artsy” of you

  13. June 1, 2008 at 5:29 pm
    The Craft says:

Exactly!!! I thought I saw a little Grouch in you (to go with Sage). Hey, at least you caught that one.

  14. of course!

see if you can catch this one…

Mundane Amateur Rhymes Stomp Heavy And Look Ludicrous

  15. Im Sorry Im Gonna Have To Do this…..See You At Your Next Show Pete.

  16. make it seem like you endorse me? i’m pretty sure it’s called ‘look, even my biggest hater says i’m a good emcee’

and who the fuck are you to endorse anyone? 99 times out of a hundred when i mention sneaky pete to anyone who doesn’t visit this site, their immediate answer is…

    “WHO?”

and yeah, most would probably say the same for me…but ive been doing shows for a year and a half now, so i guess i’ve got a reason to be unknown…what’s your excuse?

  17. I disappear for a 2 weeks and all this happens?

    jeez man.

  18. A) See there, I never said you were a good emcee.
I said you could rap– as in, put words together that rhyme
    big fukn deal.

    B) I don’t make excuses, i make moves and music.

  19. I will, however, offer an observation.

Back when i was of your age and ability
before the days of myspace and home studios
when A&R and record labels still controlled things a lot more

There was a pretty clear separation between the professional
and the amateur–mostly cuz it took a lot of money
just to record an album– not to mention get it played

then Def Jux came along and blew the hinges off
for indie labels and “underground” took on a whole new meaning

one thing leads to another–to the point that these days
rather than being supportive and BUYING
    REAL EMCEES music
young bucks like you would rather go out and promote your own wack-ass mixtapes–and thus the “underground hip hop” fan
    is essentially non-existent

So why, even after I’ve (00Agents) released a full blown professionally recorded album (with barcode!)
    TWO VINYL 12″ Singles
and now a 3rd mp3 single that’s charting i.e. playing on college radio all over the world– have YOUR buddies not heard of me?
I dunno… maybe cuz it’s not as ez as you want to believe to be
the next Kanye or 50 or whoever you idolize.

  20. June 2, 2008 at 6:03 am
    The Craft says:

As far as i’m concerned Def Jux is maybe the whackest label out (With the exception of C-Rayz). I mean I love Mr. Lif, but Jux changed him for the worse in my opinion. It’s run by El-P who can’t flow and who’s beats are way too abstract for anyone to nod their heads to. A further example…who’s heard the new Del album??? As soon as I heard it was comin out on Def Jux I knew it would blow donkey balls. (I told evryone that shit) Lo and behold!! Whos’ heard it? It is by far the biggest piece of doggie dung Del’s ever put out. It’s almost unlistenable until some of the last tracks.
Bottom line: Cats hop on Def Jux and immediately get “artsy”.
Def Jux only “blew the hinges” off ‘alternative rap’. You know…the college rap crowd that doesn’t know their asses from their elbows. Like the crowd Pete’s 15 fans belong to. (Lif’s still gets my respect for the record, just wish he made better choices)

  21. June 2, 2008 at 6:10 am
    The Craft says:

Come to think of it, it was RAWKUS that “blew the hinges” for Indylabels in oh say 1997. I haven’t checked my facts, but I’m pretty sure Jux didn’t exist when El-P was ON Rawkus compilations. Rawkus blew open the doors for Mos Def, Talib, Thirstin, Shabam Shadiq, Pharoah Monche (Organized Confusion excluded), and many other DOPE east coast MCs. Even Company Flow, Dilated People, Tash, and Eminem were makin appearances on Rawkus BEFORE they ever blew. So which label REALLY blew the hinges for Indies?

  22. June 2, 2008 at 6:26 am
    The Craft says:

Yup! Here it is. Rwakus established in 1996, Def Jux 2000. Wow! Dudes need to get their facts str8. See that proves it…age means shit if you haven’t been involved with the culture for that long. Get your bar codes UP!!!

  23. First Of All Their Aint No Silver Spoon Hip Hop Over Here…Thats Why I could Never Sell Out Their. I Didnt Get The Tender Love And Care Pete Had I had To Earn It In The Streets Thats The Reason My Styles So Raw..Hip Hop Was Never Intended To Be For Petes KInd It Started In The Streets Not Private Schools.Pete Your A Nobody In Real Life Ive Been To your Shows You Barley Have 7 Fans Including Your Hefer Wife.I Smashed You Off The Top On My Head With Barley And Education…It Took You 35 Years To Come Up With A Song That Nobody Ever Hears.Dog You Aint Hip Hop And From Where Im lookin Youll Never Be Hiphop. Im the Street Remember That Im Where Hip Hop Came From..And In The STREETS IF SOMEONE DIRESPECTS YOU YOU HANDLE LIKE A FUCKIN MAN NOT AND INTERNET BITCH…Cause Last TiMe I Saw You Pete Yo Were Real Polite And Bitch Made…

  24. Funcrusher was 1996
and then Company Flow signed with Rawkus

    Fine. Alternative Hip-hop. Whatever u wanna callit…
    Shit that isn’t ignorant.

  25. Like I said Marshall, you can have the streets
be the next 50 Cent–it’s all good

  26. “Hip Hop Was Never Intended To Be For Petes KInd It Started In The Streets”

As Far as I understand it, I wasn’t around of course,
(I was 6 yrs old and safe in the suburbs)
When HIP HOP started it was street party music
but it was also ABOUT SOMETHING
    street life–yes
    but listen to THE MESSAGE
    Emcees weren’t glorifying murder
    and being ghetto fabulous
    They were fighting social injustice
    and creating PEACE and CULTURE

    What are you about Marshall?!!!

  27. immortal technique taught me you don’t need a RECORD DEAL to make music – just like you don’t need a book deal to write poetry or a commission to paint. it’s obvious you’ve lost your way, pete – shame on you for actually posting this drivel online for everyone to see. i started making music to express myself and i honestly didn’t care whether people heard it or not – my friends had to force the songs out of me at first. but over time i’ve seen the exact corruption that’s taken over you slowly creep into me – worrying about the business end of things over the important part – the MUSIC. so fuck it, i’ll do music out of my basement and give away my ‘wack-ass mixtapes’ for the rest of my life with NO DEAL – giving away music is the most hip-hop shit you can do. last time i checked, there was no cover charge for those ‘78 block parties.

  28. Drivel and corruption huh?
Talk to me in 10yrs …IF you’re still making music
and some new jack tries to “peer up”

    get the fuk outta here

  29. oops, I mean, that’s a very interesting perspektive jots
-thank you sooo much for sharing

  30. Let me be clear. I’m not here to discourage “the youth” or “the amateur” from expressing themselves through “hip hop” or “rap music”–

But 99% of what i hear is so cliche it’s redikulous.
You’re not expressing “yourself” –you’re just copying what you’ve heard and think is kool.
and Everyone starts off that way…monkey see monkey do.

So YOU SHOULD give your music away and get feedback.
    TAKE THE FEEDBACK!
Do that for 5-6 years and if you work hard enough…
eventually you’ll realize you no longer need
    to TRY TO BE anything

only then can you truly call yourself an artist

  31. artist

    n.

One, such as a painter, sculptor, or writer, who is able by virtue of imagination and talent or skill to create works of aesthetic value, especially in the fine arts.

  32. thank you for that dictionary definition, jots

    very profound

  33. just making sure you know what the word means…it seems to me like your perception of it is a little shaky

  34. how u figure that?

aesthEtic VALUE, IMAGINATION (AKA DOING SUHIN I HAVENT’ HEARD 1,000X ALREADY)

  35. mkay then pal

it’s clear i am wasting my time here. people have already advised me to keep my mouth shut on this site, but i couldn’t resist…it’s time to try and do a little more of that. you do your thing pete, keep hating on the youngins and let your head grow real big….as for me, i’ll be biding my time and building…best of luck. and if you don’t make it as a rapper, try being a political pundit – the way you twist words has fox news written all over it!

  36. June 2, 2008 at 3:19 pm
    The Craft says:

Jots man, I get the same shit about wasting my time on here. But I’ve realized, first of all it’s amusing, and sure it gets me angry hearin the stupidity from some people, but I also find myself laughing half the time which is good for the lungs. Also, it is an outlet to connect with “Real” heads. And by that I’m not saying established veterans, but just those cats tryin to make something happen.
Pete: You don’t have to like what Marshall raps about, but you DO need to recognize skills. If you’re tryin to hate on Marsh for his subject matter, you’re hatin on 95% of rap vets. I mean isn’t G Rap a “thug” rapper. Rugged Man? Vinnie Paz? Slaine? Ill Bill? Bottom line: We all have our own tastes, so to each his own. As long as your doin it skillfully to CONTRIBUTE to the culture, it should be all good. But STOP HATIN. Sometimes you just need to learn to put a filter on it na’mean? Then there wouldn’t be any other talk on here aside from the MUSIC we all claim to love

  37. “What have you brung you? Did you improve on the design? Did you do something new? -Lupe

  38. Its Cool Sneaky pete cause if you get schooled by and “Rookie” What Does That Make You??????

my war is on an international field
and my song is “battling” the likes
of Lupe, Sheek Louch, CL Smooth (just to name a few)
    and holding it’s own

    http://www.rapattacklives.com/charts_330.htm

(after Marcellino already ended the fight, twice)
in an, shall we say, impromptu arena

and finally you challenged me to a battle
    which I graciously accepted
even though battling is not “my event”

anything to add…or that about cover it?

  46. Naaa Thiers Plenty more But…Fuck You And Your Kid games.
