Since this website is infested with clowns, I thought I’d write a little something about local cats actually DOING something instead of internet politicking. Below are a few free jewels by 401 music makers that need to be heard.
BOOMBOX SAINTZ

The duo of Troopraw and Lordwillin’ have joined forces to create the Boombox Saints, and have released a fucking dope mixtape, which you can cop HERE. This shit is uncut hip-hop at it’s finest. Check it and learn something.
The Boombox Saintz will also be performing with the legendary BLACK SHEEP on February 27th at Jerky’s in Providence. Make sure to check it out!
FEDD HILL

You can imagine how souped I was to find a myspace bulletin this morning concerning free Fedd Hill music. I was even more pumped to see six mixtapes’ worth of it! Hop over here (the only kink is that you’ll have to make a datpiff account, but it’s worth it) and cop a multitude of Fedd Hill tunes, including a few entries of the RI classic Federal Reserve Notes series. Who said giving away music was for chumps again?
FALSIDE

The beat tape is a West Coast staple, but it’s so rare to see any on the East Coast…I guess it’s because all anyone gives a fuck about out here is shouting into the mic about their egos. Falside doesn’t, and his beat tape, Unadulterated Concentration, is dope. Falside’s been quietly making moves with artists like Vast Aire and C-Rayz Walz while you yell about all the shit you’re GOING to be doing. Stop sleeping and cop the mixtape here , or go to Falside’s myspace page (www.myspace.com/falside) and cop the multitude of other free joints he’s got hanging out there.
DJ SARAH PALIN

Who the fuck is this? Who cares! All you need to know is that DJ Sarah Palin is local and that this joint is free. I Wish I Could Suck God’s Dick is a collection of very dope tracks from artists all over the place, put together like a schizophrenic 2 year old did it. Cop it here and see what’s going down.
And not to shamelessly self-promote or anything, but my project with jonwayne (www.myspace.com/jawnwayne) called The Last Pokemen will be releasing a free joint entitled Digdeep very soon. All the beats feature classic 8-bit video game samples flipped like pancakes, so cop it and try to guess where they’re from – I bet you won’t be able to. Keep your eyes peeled!
(And by the way, if anyone has anything of value to post here, please e-mail me at jotsone@gmail.com and I’ll post it up. What’s value? I’ll be the judge of that.)

hw says:
easiest way to zip files if you have a pc is:
select the files to send by highlighting them all.
right click on the screen.
click the add to zip file.
bam.
that should do it.
Zip a file
To create a .zip file, right-click a file, such as Government Proposal.doc, and then click a command on the shortcut menu, such as Add to Zip file or Add to Archive, to create Government Proposal.zip. Often the zip utility shortcut menu also includes a command such as Configure or Options to access the zip utility’s option settings.

February 19, 2009 at 11:28 am
sneakypete says:
why aren’t you up there Jots?
February 19, 2009 at 11:39 am
Jots says:
because 8-bit beat tracks about girls jumping off the empire state building aren’t really hot 106 material
February 19, 2009 at 11:40 am
sbo says:
Just so everbody knows, not to knock anybody on the “local heat” my good friend hosts on hot106 on the weekends and he told me all the local heat is self or second party submitted. Get a few friends to submit your myspace to them and there you go…LOCAL HEAT should be people who murder every local show they do… who actually listens to hot 106? ever? ahh i guess thats just me who hates radio hiphop
February 19, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Phillip Morrez says:

i think im on a track somewhere on that piece too.
Check it out everybody, guaranteed banger.
February 22, 2009 at 1:50 pm
sneakypete says:
ok then, here’s an actual topic for discussion:
It seems that some local hip hop artists still haven’t received the notice that the concept of “pay-to-play” is an outdated, exploitative scam used by lazy promoters to take advantage of desperate artists.
Lemme break it down fuhyaz:
1)I Hire a washed-up 90’s rapper to headline a show
(probly cost me about a grand)
2)I sell opening slots to five local rappers.
3)Now my headliner is paid for but wait…
Even better, these local rappers now do MY JOB FOR ME and
start BRAGGING about the “BIG SHOW” they get to perform at.
So All I have to do for promotion is post a flyer on myspace then sit back and make ALL THE MONEY from the ridiculously over-priced tix sales.
Let’s talk turkey.
Doing one “Big Time” show isn’t going to get you an “in” with the club or land you a record deal.
I have personally produced shows where I require
bands/artists to pre-purchase a min of 20 tickets at a discounted rate which they then sell to their fans.
But anyone charging you to perform w/o giving you a chance to make some money yourself is NOT doing you a favor.
It is a RACKET. His ONLY BUSINESS is making money FROM YOU.
Beginners take a note:
If those same 5 bands each sell just 20 tickets @ $8, that’s $800 you could be splitting among the people DOING THE ACTUAL WORK!!
Do you really believe this headliner will magically
draw in thousands of new fans who will also be so impressed
by your ten minute set that they will rush to purchase your
basement recorded $10 mixtape? Good luck with that.
But don’t listen to the “washed up 40 year old rapper”
You “get it in” !!
You “murder” that set dogg !!!
Maybe a Big Time A&R will wander into RI that night…
see your set and decide you’re the NEXT BIG THING.
February 22, 2009 at 2:19 pm
sbo says:
yea instead take 7 years to put out one album…. that’s what a real mc does.. haha… i dropped 2 mix tapes in less then a year and got featured and 2 over seas so you can try to break down what local hip hop should be in your eyes … i respect your music and originality and i also agree that there are a few lazy promoters but i know you were talking about me with the whole ” murder” thing… next time just say my name so everybody else knows … thanks
February 22, 2009 at 2:36 pm
sbo says:
OH…and on ” a topic of discussion ”
funny story…my boy was tuning in to 90.3 and herd sneaky pete on the station… he called into the dj and said something like ” sneaky petes music should be on lite 105.. please turn it off and put some real hiphop on ” then when the dj came back on air he said… ” yea we getting alot of love for these tracks” when he called me and told me that i almost pissed my pants laughing… well actaully i guess that isnt really a topic of discussion .. o well
February 22, 2009 at 2:36 pm
sneakypete says:
was I?
…every rapper i ever seen on this site likes to brag
about how they be murdering sets. All i have to say about that is
maybe you should let someone ELSE say that about you first.
but yall keep “murderin” it all u want. I be BIRTHING THAT BABY!!
February 22, 2009 at 2:38 pm
sneakypete says:
just goes to show ur boi wasn’t the only one calling in then don’t it?
February 22, 2009 at 3:14 pm
sbo says:
what does that mean? birthing it? really… you wear yellow tank tops and crocks to a hiphop show and get out shined by your features… if thats birthing it then i guess you are the mother of the year….congrats… i honestly dont wanna get involved in a internet back n forth .. i really dont get down like that .. so u got my number if there is a problem with me and how i ” murder sets” then hit me up… COME ON MAN… WHO GOT A BETTER STAGE PRESENCE AND SHOW… SBO OR SNEAKY PETE… THERE IS YOUR TOPIC OF DISCUSSION… your own people have told me the truth.. so lets see if they will actually post it…
